Target Audience
Any person required to perform specific jobs in the workplace should attend this course. All employees.

Aim
The aim of the course is to familiarise participants with the basic principles and concept of a systematic approach to Hazard Identification, Assessment and Control responsibilities under the OSH / MSI Legislation, and to assist in initiating and maintaining responsible, effective Occupational Safety and Health strategies in their individual workplace(s) and or area(s) of responsibility

Performance Objectives
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
- identify and discuss the legislative requirement for Risk Management in the workplace in accordance with the current legislation;
- define the terms used in hazard identification;
- identify and describe the broad categories of hazards that exist within their workplace;
- discuss the principles of workplace inspections, assessment and control
- determine the risk ranking of a hazard utilising a risk rating matrix; ยท apply the hierarchy of control to workplace hazards;
- recognise the need for and compliance with a systematic approach to risk management (Hazard Control); and
- demonstrate a commitment to implement proactive occupational safety and health strategies within their areas of responsibilities by establishing, implementing and maintaining a risk management strategy in the control of hazards.

Methodology
The course delivery is consistent with adult learning principals, viz:
- Multimedia presentations;
- Reference materials and workbooks as required;
- Brainstorming sessions and group dynamics;
- Discussion and consensus; and
- Facilitation of theoretical and or experiential learning.

Time-Frame
The course is designed to be completed within a two-day time frame on the basis of 12 participants.
- Each day would consist of at least eight (8) hours not including breaks and lunch times.

Expected Workplace Outcomes
Participants will be able to increase performance and productivity; and reduce the exposure to risk, to themselves and others in the workplace utilising the knowledge and skills learnt, specifically by
- participating in workplace inspections;
- identifying, assessing and making recommendations for controlling hazards identified; and
- by maintaining monitoring and review mechanisms.
