Target Audience
Any employee or potential employee, contractor, sub-contractor of any Australian company/business should attend this course.
NB: Any person who works for a company is an employee of that company.

Aim
This course is intended to assist all employees to understand their rights and responsibilities under the Occupational Safety and Health Act (WA) and or The Mines Safety Inspection Act (WA), identify how the Act, Regulations and Standards become Law, and how they relate to loss control, and to provide some tools to develop the skills required to initiate and maintain responsible, effective Occupational Safety and Health strategies, in their individual workplaces and or areas of responsibility.

Performance Objectives
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
- demonstrate an understanding of the legislation by:
- identifying the "Duty of Care" as it relates to the employer, employee, safety and health representatives and their specific workplace; and
- explaining how the various parts of the legislation effect both the employer and the employees in the workplace;
- identify the need for Resolution of Issues in the workplace;
- determine the need for, and compliance with Safe Systems of Work; and
- recognise the need for the completion of Incident Reports as a prerequisite for Worker’s Compensation.

- Statute and Common Law

Methodology
The course delivery is consistent with adult learning principals, viz:
- Multimedia presentations;
- Reference materials and workbooks as required;
- Brainstorming sessions and group dynamics;
- Discussion and consensus; and
- Facilitation of theoretical and or experiential learning.

Time-Frame
The course is designed to be completed within a one-day time frame.
Each day would consist of at least eight (8) hours not including breaks and lunch times.

Expected Workplace Outcomes
Participants will be able to increase performance and productivity; and reduce the exposure to risk, to themselves and others in the workplace utilising the knowledge and skills learnt, specifically by:
- adhearing to their duty of care;
- utilising the agreed resolution of issues process as and when required;
- complying with safe systems of work; and
- completing the appropriate report forms when.reporting accidents and incidents.
NB: We recommend modification of all courses to include client specific content, ie: terminology, process, documentation as required, etc.
