Target Audience
Any person involved in the design, development and or the delivery of training to others, should attend this course.

Aim
The aim of the course is to familiarise participants with the legal ramifications of training as they relate to Work Health and Safety Legislation (Statute and Common Law) and to identify the skills and knowledge required of the Reasonably Prudent Trainer (RPT).

Performance Objectives
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
- demonstrate an understanding of the applicable Work Health and Safety Act and associated Legislation;
- identify the "Duty of Care" as it relates to the PCBU (Employer) and Worker, and how it relates to their workplace;
- identify how the various Parts of the Legislation effect them in the workplace;
- recognise the need for and compliance with Safe Systems of Work; and
- recognise the need for the development of training curriculum consistent with appropriate Standard Operating Procedures/Work Method Statements.

Methodology
The course delivery is consistent with adult learning principals, viz:
- Multimedia presentations;
- Reference materials and workbooks as required;
- Brainstorming sessions and group dynamics;
- Discussion and consensus; and
- Facilitation of theoretical and or experiential learning.

Time-Frame
The course is designed to be completed within a one-day time frame. Each day would consist of at least eight (8) hours not including breaks and lunch times.

Expected Workplace Outcomes
Participants will be able to increase performance and productivity; and reduce the exposure to risk, to themselves and others in the workplace utilising the knowledge and skills learnt, specifically by:
- demonstrating their "Duty of Care" by including WHS requirements into training and training curriculum development;
- ensuring that the functions performed by personnel are taken into consideration when determining their specific training requirements; and
- maintaining effective records of training provided.
